I like to occasionally pamper my bike, but there aren’t too many detailing products for matte finishes. So when I saw this Hog Wash Matte Finish cleaner, I decided to give it a try. The instructions are very clear and the application is easy with the sprayer nozzle. My motorcycle is black, so I can see every little imperfection in its matte paint. After applying the product and wiping it off, it leaves the paint looking clean and streak-free, with a nice deep sheen. This product can even be used on plastic car parts, but I haven’t tried it in that capacity yet. This spray is not cheap, but it doesn’t take a lot to clean my bike, so it may be worth it. Overall, I think it is a good product and would recommend it.

Pugh due to reviews confirming its efficacy on matte motorcycle helmets. I had a few bug splatters during a ride and you can’t stop every mile to clean them off. I arrived home and wiping with water didn’t work so purchased this product based on reviews. Clearly schill reviews as it is NOT effective on removing bug smears on matte helmets and made absolutely NO difference. Do not purchase this product.

I tried this out on a few different items. First, I used it on my scooter which has a satin finish, and it did not make the finish any glossier. I also used it on the plastic of my ZX-10R for the inner cowls, and it brought out the black a bit, and also did not make it any shinier than it was before. To test its cleaning, I used it on the front of the ZX-10R and it took the bugs right off. That part of the bike is gloss, but the big test for me there was confirming that it would remove bugs well, which it did. I am very happy with this cleaning and thought it did a good job cleaning the parts and not adding any gloss, which is perfect for matte, satin, and “denim” bikes and cars.

My motorcycle (a Night Rod) has semi-gloss black paint which I really like and unfortunately it’s that time of year where I live that I have to put it away for the winter soon. I usually don’t use any special cleaners on it because many of them make the paint shine and I don’t want that. I also do not want to damage the paint.
I thought I would give this cleaner a try. Unfortunately when I received the product the top was slightly loose and some of the product had leaked out during shipping. For this I have to subtract a star.
However, this Hogwash cleaner worked great on my bike, I applied it with a microfiber towel. They mention in the ad that it smells good and it actually does. This made cleaning the bike an actually enjoyable experience and I will continue to use the product. I definitely recommend it if you want to protect your paint without making the paint shiny, it gets 4 out of 5 on Oilboy’s Slainte scale.

Main use is for helmet shield, also for plexiglass windshield. Works good on the helmet shield, haven’t used it on that but should be ok on that.

I received this product for review, I was not paid to review it.
I tried using this product on a matte finish motorcycle to clean dead bugs and tree sap. Since it is matte I was hoping this would work better than some other products.
It did not even touch dead bugs, and was only partially successful on tree sap. I had to rub it in with my finger and let soak a little to work. But it didn’t remove any of the dead bug. Windex worked better.
The product does have a nice smell but isn’t terribly effective with sticky stuff. It did work fairly well on water spots and light streaks.
