This filter will last as long as the car is driving, it only has to be cleaned every 50,000 miles and it increases the performance of the car ever so slightly. Owning a naturally aspirated car, I wasn’t really expecting a little more pep, but the throttle response is better and acceleration in fourth gear is better. Don’t be mistaken, this won’t turn your four banger into a race car but it does help a little during top end acceleration (high rpm’s) when the engine needs to breathe more.

Car does seem to run better and any improvement in MPG is always worthwhile investment as well.

I bought this for my wife’s car and it is indeed performing as advertised. She has a dashboard MPG readout (dunno how accurate it is) that displayed a full 1MPG gain in average fuel economy over the first week she used it. As others have said, it did take some time for the ECU to figure out what was going on…but this just meant a more meaty midrange torque band as the week wore on. The engine honestly feels stronger now after I have driven the car with throttle response being more immediate as well.

So far it’s just been another Air Filter for My 2010 Chevy Cobalt, No Amazing Sound, No Amazing Gas Saving, No Amazing Boosting In HP, It’s April 2014 and my Cobalt only has like 6700 miles on it, My old Air Filter wasn’t even dirty when I replaced it with this K&N 33-2311, So far I see No Change in my Vehicle what so ever, Is my vehicle getting more air? Maybe? Is it Getting Better Gas Mileage? My Digital Gas Mileage Reader Says No.
I don’t know what to tell you other than this.

I bought this for my husband’s Chevy Cobalt. It is the only upgrade he has made on the car so far and we have felt the improvement in the time it takes to speed up the car. I can’t really mention on handling or anything like that as I do not drive the car, be he seems to love this filter.

I installed this air filter in my Cobalt SS with a modded air box, main reasons were to rid myself of the stock paper filter and hopefully add a few horsepower. I’m not going to sit here and tell everyone that it gives huge horsepower gains, honestly I don’t know and the butt-dyno felt little to no difference. However, the sound has improved some and it’s hard to ignore the benefits of a lifetime air filter. Sure you probably need to buy K&N’s cleaning supplies but besides that this filter can be cleaned and reused time and time again saving money each time you would have purchased a new filter. This product is made for the stock Cobalt SS air box, the modifications done to mine in no way affect the installation or fit and finish of this product.

We have 2 Cobalts. I put one filter in my spouse’s car and her mileage increased 1 mpg. I put one in my car and got a 4.5 mpg increase. The reason for the difference is, I also changed the exhaust system in my car, but left hers alone. Chevrolet uses a 2.5 inch diameter exhaust pipe to the catalytic converter. Then narrows the pipe to 2 inches diameter and forces the exhaust through 4 baffles. And again reduces the pipe diameter to 1.5 inches, before it enters the muffler. I replaced the exhaust pipe after the second baffle and kept the pipe diameter at 2 inches all the way through the muffler. This allows the engine to breathe and combined with the K&N filter gives me a substantial increase in power and economy.

I bought this for my 2007 Chevy Cobalt 4D.
The filter has a great built quality to it and looks like it will trap a ton of dirt. It fit perfect in the air filter camber without having to squeeze it in. The outside edges are rubber so it keeps a great seal. I noticed a difference after taking out the stock and inserting this filter. My car felt like it had a little more punch and my MPG on highway went up by 2 to 3. I mostly drive highway, so it’s a plus for me.
Keep in mind that this filter must be cleaned at 50,000 miles. Which is a lot but you must buy the filter cleaner which is additional cost. For me, this is still the best way to go. The stock filter cost about $35 this will certainly pay for itself with all the times you would have to replace the stock or cheaper ones.
