    Had problems with my truck stalling when raining. It would generally start again after a bit, sometimes not until later/after some drying time. I ended up taking it to Ford dealer and they told me I needed this module and also a new fuel pump. The total estimate was over $1,000. I asked them how they knew the fuel pump was bad and I was told that they tested it, didn’t really believe that both went bad at the same time so I told them forget it, I’ll fix it myself. I ordered this module from Amazon and once it arrived I installed it in less than 30 minutes and my trucking was running good again. It cost me more to have them tell me what was wrong than it cost me to fix it myself. This happened in 2017 and my truck is still running good more than 4 years later (on the same fuel pump).

    My FPDM was going bad on my truck. Thought it was the fuel pump. Just wouldnt start. Thought it was the auto fuel shut off button in the passenger side that needed reset but that didn’t work. After taking off the rear spare tire I found this factory ford part on the cross member and it was corroded and falling apart. Literally. Could see the computer chip inside the unit from outside hole that corroded thru. The new unit comes with a set of bushings that keep it off the frame rail and lets the moisture dry. Ford should have recalled this by now. It is a ridiculous failure from ford and more common than you would believe. More people try to change the fuel filter/pump/etc… Just to find it was this little guy causing the problem. Simple install. Unscrew 2 bolts, unclip wiring harness, clean off metal frame, install new unit and plug wiring harness back in. Doesmt matter what order. Just so long as you remember to plug in. Very easy install. If truck will not start, unhook battery. Let sit for about a half hour to reset computer, maybe shorter or longer time, not sure as I didn’t need to, if still won’t start check the fuel pump shut off switch and push it down to reset just in case. It will start after that unless this wasn’t your problem. If you have all the corrosion and cracks and holes like my factory part did and your truck isn’t getting fuel, this is your problem. Almost guaranteed. Check the forums on ford enthusiasts sites to learn more. Hope this review is helpful to anyone with my problem. Oh and this is a great deal over factory and parts store cost. Saves a lot of money waiting the few extra days. This specific model may very well fit other vehicles of the same type harness like the mustang or other vehicles with the 4.6L so check into that also. Hope my speedy review was helpful and to the point without being wordy. I was in a bit of a rush. Best of luck.

    Component works great, gas milage improved greatly, it is located on shelf above spare tire and is easy to change after removing spare, but the bolts sent with the standoffs are too long and will separate the two halves of the component if used, I went back with the original configuration

    My father’s faithful 2006 Ford Expedition started to have some minor bucking, but then seemed to go away. I am the back-yard mechanic who takes care of his oil changes and such. I already replaced the plugs at 100k miles (using the hot engine, impact wrench method which works great by the way), so I knew it was not the plugs. Perhaps it was the coils, now at 126k I suppose they would be reasonable to need replacement now. But after a couple of days later, he had the engine shut off while driving, he had it towed to my house using his AAA card.

    Replacing the fuel pump driver module was pretty easy for me, just lower the spare tire, find the module mounted on the driver’s side frame, unbolt from outside of the frame, squeeze release of plug, pull plug, wiggle old unit out. Old unit had perforation of metal backing. I pried into the perforation with a screw driver to see how bad things were. The backing gave way and the circuit board had obvious damage and smelled badly.

    I put the new unit in place using the double-sided studs that came with it instead of the rubber bushings and bolts since I didn’t think i could hold the bushings in place. I plugged it in, then with a big smile on my face went to start it up getting ready to hear the vroom. But, no vroom. It did not start. WHY?!

    After pacing back and forth up and down the driveway about 2 or 3 times (okay, maybe 10), I decided to check the fuses, maybe there were a fuse for the fuel pump that blew. Yep, #12 which is a 15A fuse. Now it made sense, the module got water in it, shorted, the fuse blew. Just changing the module was just half of the problem. The other half of the job is the fuse. Not a big deal mind you, but just needed to be done. I found the fuse panel to the right of the passenger seat floor on the side.

    Knowing all of that, I now could have done the whole job in about 30 minutes or less. But that fuse thing threw me for awhile. Of course now it makes sense in hindsight.

    Truck is great again – the only things it has needed so far were the plugs at 100k and a rear-end pinion seal which was also pretty easy.

    Not bad for 126k miles.

    This part replaced a oem module on a 2008 F250 w/ a 5.4L 2v V8.
    My truck has a Knapheide bed, so locating and replacing the module was a bit easier (no spare tire mounted under bed). It was still a bit of a pain to get oem plug undone, but once that was done (use a pick or the specialty tool for the lock style harness plugs) all went pretty smooth.
    The new/er design of these modules is much smarter than the oem! The standoff pieces supplied with most the modules are very helpful and keep road grime/gunk from getting stuck on/behind/in the module.

    Worked like a charm! Love the rubber spacers that came with it. That way the unit is not right against the steel and won’t deteriorate as fast. Just a warning about the installation not about the product. If after installation your truck still dosen’t start check your fuel pump fuse it might have blown mine did.
