I had this installed about 20K miles ago, and the water pump is already bad. I have to get it replaced.
Huge waste of money, especially since the cost of labor is enormous. I maintained my car well and got this, the timing belt, and several other parts that were still good replaced not because they were going bad, but just to keep it properly maintained after I bought the car. The radiator and cooling system were kept well maintained yet the water pump is bad.
The cost of this kit isn’t too much and isn’t what breaks the bank to have it redone, but the labor to have it replaced is too expensive and definitely puts me in financial trouble.
The gasket was also missing when I had bought it.
Really disappointed.

Just installed today. Don’t forget to order drive belts since they have to come off and likely need to be replaced at the timing belt interval if you haven’t recently. The factory parts are Gates and look identical to the replacements save the notch on the water pump other reviewers have mentioned. The instructions say to remove the valve cover and put a wrench on the cam but this isn’t necessary as long as the belt hasn’t slipped or broken. A youtube vid shows putting zip ties on the belt/cam while you fit everything back together. Not necessary but a nice precaution.

Spent the afternoon installing this timing belt kit on my 2010 Hyundai Elantra 2.0. All worked out well and now good for another 60,000 miles, as Hyundai recommends replacement of the timing belt at 60,000. Removal and replacement of some parts a bit difficult due to space available, but with a little patience one can get it done. Better than spending $400.00 at a dealership to have it done, unless you’re not mechanically inclined. I am a 72 year old retired mechanic, so I have the tools to do the job – just takes me a bit longer these days as the joints sometimes are a problem 🙂 :).

The timing belt kit was a great value. It took a while for me to install the belt and water pump and pulleys. My only real problem was setting the tension correctly for the tensioner pulley. The instructions that came with it were good and useful. I’m happy with my purchase. Glad I saved a lot of money doing it myself.
